What I hated about this anime was that it gave me a character I really liked.
So to start, I will give a little insight on myself. My friends know this best; I do not normally immerse myself and relate to characters in video games or shows. I just never have gotten to be able to empathize with characters that are presented to me like my friends do. I could sympathize with them yes, but in the end the feeling I usually end up with is, "well that sucks for you, that's how life is". Even if a character becomes happy it just seems pretty dull to me. In short, anything that usually happens to fictional characters only take me in for the moment, afterwards, I could care less about it.
Straight to the point, Touma was probably the first character I was able to ever relate to. Down to the details, her mannerisms, her unique sense of humor, and her annoyance with distractions while focused; all of that slowly made me realize that my appreciation for her was due to the fact that I was able to put myself in her shoes, because in similar situations I had felt the same way. This was shown very well especially in episode 10, where we get a full flashback of her first meeting with Haruki.

So in Touma's point of view, she invited two people into her life. They will be the only friends she would ever have and she cares for them as much as they do her. As an introverted character, she is very selective of her friends and is not as popular as the other two. In fact, the only thing she ever had going for her was her talent in music. She wasn't good at school or anything else, her friends were the ones that had to help her because of her other faults. Also, she was not as social adept as her friends are so she literally had nobody else to turn to.

This is one of the main reasons I became so upset. Setsuna basically has everything going on for her. She's popular, good in school, and good in singing. In contrast to Kazusa, she's the girl that everybody wants. It was shown very obviously too that if she ever wanted to she could have any boy in the class because everyone was head over heels for her. Kazusa never had that convenience; no one ever mentioned her or shown any likeness towards her.
Hell, Setsuna even had friends to back her up and supported her relationship with Haruki over Kazusa. Kazusa was basically alone the whole time having to deal with the love of her life dating her best friend. What's worse was all the time she had spent trying to get close to him in the first place, as she is the type of person that takes her time inviting people in her life. It is difficult to become close with the type of person Kazusa is. Even she knew that so she took it at her pace in which she felt comfortable with, but once you are in this type of person's life you are an invaluable friend to them, such as what happened with Haruki and Setsuna. Because she valued them as her best friends, she wanted them to also be happy so she gave her blessings as their friend to support them, even though deep down there was a hope that died within her.
All in all, I am upset with the fact that poor Kazusa ends up alone in this ending. Especially since she had to move away, I feel for her character the most. She was just trying to be the best person she could be to the two people that meant the most to her in life and ends up getting the shortest stick imo; all she wanted was to have a loving relationship. On the other hand, even though I'm trying not to hate, Setsuna has everything going on for her in life and it just seems everything goes right for her character. Kazusa literally only had her music to offer while Setsuna is little miss perfect. Just throw a dog a bone! I can't blame Haruki fully because I do understand how difficult it was to deal with Kazusa, and also he shows remorse for how dumb his actions may have been.
When I finished watching the show, I did not know what to think. I felt pretty blank but I did sense that something did not fit right with me. The ending imo, was satisfactory and perfect, but the more I thought about the whole thing it slowly hit me. It just made me angry with what Kazusa had to go through. The whole time she was trying to build something great and was finally going to be happy. But through all the good times we find out that things were not working out to a happy ending. It upset me that through her mask was a character going through an immense amount of despair. I was rooting for her because I was able to feel what she felt, and I had an inkling that Haruki was going to choose her in the end. But throughout the show she was truly alone, friends regardless, because who would she be able to turn to anyway?
tl;dr
How dare you toy with Kazusa's precious feelings you Setsuna fuck (but not really).
Anyway, what I really want to say about this show so far is: polygamy exists for a specific reason and for specific people, and these are the people that can definitely make it work. And since Kazusa's the smartest girl ever she will figure it out overseas, come back, and fix this stupid mess.
